David Price picked up the loss after surrendering five runs on seven hits while striking out four in six innings.
Yoenis Cespedes went two-for-four at the plate with a solo home run and Jose Iglesias also batted in a run, as the Tigers dropped their third-straight to fall to four games under .500.
In the series finale this afternoon Justin Verlander gets the start for the Tigers while the Rays counter with Chris Archer.
