Less than 24 hours after Tigers general manager Dave Dombrowski said the organization was rebooting, the team traded starting pitcher David Price and closer Joakim Soria.
Price was acquired by the Toronto Blue Jays for left handed pitching prospects Daniel Norris, Matt Boyd and Jairo (hi-row) Labourt.
Norris, Toronto’s number one prospect, will join Detroit’s rotation immediately and is scheduled to start on Sunday in place of Price.
Soria was traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates for shortstop prospect JaCoby Jones.
In the Minor Leagues this season, Jones is batting .260 with 60 RBI and will begin his career with the Tigers at Double-A Erie.
Detroit still may make some moves before this afternoon’s trade deadline.
