Toledo Mud Hens third baseman Mike Hessman set the Minor League home run record in grand fashion Monday night.
Hessman belted a grand slam in Toledo’s loss to Lehigh Valley for his 433rd Minor League homer, breaking the record set by Buzz Arlett of the Oakland Oaks over 60 years ago.
The 37-year-old is one of only four players in Minor League history to hit over 400 home runs.
While Hessman has played over two thousand games in the minors, he has appeared in 109 Major League games with the Braves, Tigers and Mets.
