NFL – The Detroit Lions Drop Their Second Preseason Game

After winning their first preseason game at Ford Field last week, the Lions dropped their exhibition road opener 21-17 in Washington Thursday night.

Quarterback Matthew Stafford went six-of-eight in passing for 78 yards and in their first series.

Matt Prater put Detroit on the board with a 49-yard field goal. QB Dan Orlovsky finished 13-of-17 for 118 yards and two touchdowns, while Kellen Moore went three-of-seven for 31 yards.

The defense held Washington quarterback Robert Griffin the Third to eight yards passing and he was sacked twice in their first drive and later knocked out of the game.

Rookie defensive tackle Gabe Wright recovered a Griffin fumble in the second quarter which led to a touchdown.

Starting defensive tackle Caraun Reid and starting guard Larry Warford both left the game with ankle injuries.
The Lions will be on the road next Thursday as they visit the Jaguars in Jacksonville.
