Detroit Red Wings center Pavel Datsyuk is on track in his rehabilitation from ankle surgery.
Datsyuk had a procedure to repair ruptured tendons in late June and yesterday Wings general manager Ken Holland said the team is encouraged by his progress.
He should know when Datsuyk can resume hockey activities after a check up with his surgeon next month.
Holland also said he hopes forward Johan Franzen will be able to take part in the upcoming training camp after his season ended in January with a concussion.
Franzen has been working out and told Holland he has gotten better over the summer.
Detroit begins preseason play September 22nd in Chicago and will host Toronto in the regular season opener October 9th.
