The Detroit Tigers snapped a five game losing streak as starter Justin Verlander tossed a one-hitter in a 5-0 win over the Los Angeles Angels last night at Comerica Park.
Verlander’s no-hit bid was broken up in the ninth inning when the Angels Chris Iannetta hit a double.
JV struck out nine and walked two in the complete game shutout.
Nick Castellanos had a solo home run, while Miguel Cabrera and J.D. Martinez each hit a two run homer.
In this afternoon’s series finale, Randy Wolf makes his second start for Detroit and Matt Shoemaker will take the mound for Los Angeles.
