The Red Wings begin preseason workouts today in Traverse City.
They’ll undergo physicals and off-ice testing on Thursday before starting four days of practices and intrasquad scrimmages Friday at Centre I.C.E. Arena.
For the first time in a decade the Wings head to training camp with a new voice behind the bench.
Jeff Blashill is a fresh voice, but a familiar one.
He has been with the organization for four seasons – the past three as head coach of the Grand Rapids Griffins and one before that as an assistant under Mike Babcock.
There were significant changes on the ice, too, as the Red Wings signed free agents defenseman Mike Green, and Brad Richards, a skilled center and two-time Stanley Cup winner.
