NHL – The Red Wings Drop Their First Preseason Game

The Red Wings lost to the Blackhawks 5-4 in overtime in their first preseason game in Chicago Tuesday night.

Luke Glendening scored with just over two minutes left in regulation to tie the game, but Trevor Daley got the winning goal for the Blackhawks 1:40 into OT.

Anthony Mantha scored for Detroit in the second and Riley Sheahan and Teemu Pulkkinen each had a goal in the third.

Jimmy Howard got the start in net and turned away 18 of the 21 shots he faced, while Tom McCollum stopped 14 shots.

The Wings host the Blackhawks tonight at Joe Louis Arena in the second of the home-and-home series.

Game time is 7:30 p.m.
