MLB – The Tigers Drop Grapefruit League Opener

The Tigers dropped their Grapefruit League opener 4-2 to the Pittsburgh Pirates Tuesday afternoon at Joker Marchant Stadium.

Victor Martinez provided all Detroit’s offense with a two run homer in the sixth inning.

Starter Matt Boyd gave up one run on three hits in two innings, prospect Michael Fulmer pitched two scoreless innings and Logan Kensing was tagged with the loss after giving up two runs on four hits in one inning.

The Tigers split squad will be on the road today, with Mike Pelfrey making his Detroit debut in Tampa against the Yankees and Buck Farmer getting the start against the Pirates in Bradenton.
