Posted on March 3, 2016 in Professional Sports News.

The Tigers beat the Pirates 10-3 and lost to the Yankees 10-9 in split squad road games in Grapefruit League action Wednesday afternoon.

JaCoby Jones had a two-run homer and Jarrod Saltalamacchia hit a solo home run against Pittsburgh.

Detroit let a seven run lead slip away against New York, despite three perfect innings by starting pitcher Mike Pelfrey and a grand-slam by Bryan Holaday.

Today, the Tigers are on the road again against the Atlanta Braves in Lake Buena Vista.

Daniel Norris will make his first Spring Training start and Shane Greene, Mark Lowe and Justin Wilson will also work off the mound.

The Tigers had a football coach manning the first base box for part of Wednesday’s split-squad win over the Pittsburgh Pirates in Florida.

Michigan Wolverines coach Jim Harbaugh coached the first three innings.

He was decked out in the Tigers’ gray road uniform with number-four, the number he wore as quarterback of the Wolverines in the 1980’s.

After being replaced by Alan Trammell, Harbaugh watched the rest of a 10-3 win from the dugout.
