MLB – The Tigers Win The Series Opener – J.D. Hurt

Posted on June 17, 2016 in Professional Sports News.

The Tigers beat the Royals, 10 to 4, in last night’s opener of a weekend series in Kansas City.

Victor Martinez provided the power for the tigers’ offensive.

He smashed 3 home runs, giving the veteran D.H. 12 for the season.

The news, however, isn’t all good for the Tigers.

Right-fielder J.D. Martinez had to leave the game in the 2nd inning with a fractured right elbow, an injury that will sideline Martinez for about the next 4 to 6 weeks.

Justin Verlander went 7 innings and got his 7th win.

He gave up four runs on eight hits and struck out seven.

The series continues tonight.

Michael Fulmer will start for the Tigers and Yordano Ventura goes for Kansas City.

Game time is 8:15.
