Justin Verlander threw seven strong innings leading the Tigers to a 4 to 2 win over the Seattle Mariners at Comerica Park.
The veteran right-hander went seven innings, giving up two runs – while striking out five.
Nick Castellanos and Ian Kinsler both had two-out RBI doubles and James McCann added an insurance run with a sacrifice fly.
Fransisco Rodriguez pitched the ninth for his 20th save.
The series continues tonight.
Michael Fulmer will start for the Tigers and the Mariners will send out Hisashi Iwakuma.
The first pitch is scheduled for 7:10.
