Steven Cishek’s 10th-inning wild pitch brought home Cameron Maybin with the winning run, gaining the Tigers a four-game series sweep of the Mariners with a 5-4 win yesterday at Comerica Park.
On a day when Seattle lost their starting pitcher in warmups, Cishek was the last available fresh arm when he took the mound.
Detroit used their last available position player in the 10th-inning rally, bringing on Maybin to pinch-run for Steven Moya following a one-out walk.
Victor Martinez pinch-hit single moved him to third.
Cishek struck out Andrew Romine with the bases loaded and one out, but his 1-0 pitch to Ian Kinsler went wide and past catcher Chris Iannetta, sending Maybin home.
Daniel Norris started for the Tigers.
He gave up 3 runs on 6 hits. He struck out 5 and didn’t walk anybody.
Kyle Ryan got the win in relief.
Tonight the Tigers start a 3 game weekend series at Comerica Park with the Cleveland Indians.
Jordan Zimmermann will start for the Tigers opposite Danny Salazar for the Indians.
Game time tonight is 7:10
