A bases-loaded walk to center fielder Tyler Collins scored Justin Upton with the game-winning run…..as the Tigers edged past the Boston Red Sox, 9 to 8, last night at Fenway Park.
The win is the second in a row and fourth in the last six games for the Tigers, who remain five-and-a-half games behind the Cleveland Indians in the chase for first place in the central division.
Alex Wilson picked up the win in relief of starter Mike Pelfrey……..while Francisco Rodriguez pitched a scoreless ninth inning to earn his 29th save of the year.
Starter Pelfrey threw five innings, giving up five runs on six hits, striking out one and walking two.
The series wraps up today at Fenway with an afternoon game.
Michael Fulmer will start for the Tigers and Eduardo Rodriguez takes the Mound for Boston.
