The Detroit Tigers used a six-run first inning off reigning American League Cy Young Award winner Dallas Keuchel to complete a three-game sweep of the Astros with an 11-0 win yesterday at Comerica Park.
James McCann hit a grand slam and Miguel Cabrera hit two home runs to go along with four RBI’s of his own.
Mike Pelfrey was the starter and the winning pitcher.
He threw five scoreless innings, giving up 4 hits, while striking out four, and walking one.
The Tigers were four for six with runners in scoring position, banging out 10 hits and four home runs over all.
Justin Upton had the other one.
The Tigers are nine games over five hundred at 57 and 48 and are in second place four and a half games behind the Cleveland Indians in the American League Central Division.
The Tigers are off today.
Tomorrow they start a three game series with the Chicago White Sox at Comerica Park.
