After a much-needed off-day yesterday the Tigers are back in game action tonight as they clash with the Chicago White Sox in the opener of a three-game series at Comerica Park.

Anibal Sanchez will get the start for Detroit in game #1 and Chicago will go with veteran right-hander James Shields.

The first pitch this evening is at 7:10.

Detroit is also a game-and-a-half behind the Toronto Blue Jays in the battle for the final wild card spot in the American League.

Baseball’s trading deadline came and went yesterday, with a record 18 deals being made between teams.

Among the big names that were traded on Monday were Jonathan Lucroy and Carlos Beltran who were dealt to the Texas Rangers.

Jay Bruce was traded to the New York Mets; Francisco Liriano was dealt to the Toronto Blue Jays; Matt Moore was traded to the San Francisco Giants.
