A six-run 5th inning powered the Tigers to an 11 to 5 victory over the Chicago White Sox in last night’s opener of a three-game series at Comerica Park.
The win is the 7th in a row for the Tigers, who are now just a half-game behind the Boston Red Sox
in the chase for the final wild card spot in the american league.
Miguel Cabrera and Victor Martinez each clubbed home runs to lead Detroit’s offensive attack in the win.
All together the Tigers banged out 13 hits, including the two home runs.
Anibal Sanchez started for the Tigers and he got the win.
He pitched six innings, giving up one run on six hits, striking out 2 and walking 3.
The series continues at Comerica Park tonight.
Michael Fulmer takes the mound for Detroit and Chris Sale will start for the White Sox.
