The baseball playoffs began in exciting fashion last night as the Toronto Blue Jays downed the Baltimore Orioles, 5 to 2, in the American League Wild Card game.
Toronto’s Edwin Encarnacion delivered the game-winning hit, a three-run home run in the
bottom of the 11th inning.
The Blue Jays now advance to face the Texas Rangers in the divisional series round – game #1 is tomorrow afternoon in Texas.
Tonight, it’s the National League Wild Card game……which will feature the New York Mets playing host to the San Francisco Giants.
According to numerous stories this morning, Tigers’ officials will exercise the 2017 contract option on Brad Ausmus.
That means Ausmus will remain as Detroit’s manager next season.
The 47- year old Ausmus has compiled a record of 250 and 232 in his three years as manager of the Tigers, although it should be noted that Ausmus has failed to lead Detroit to the playoffs in each of the last two years.
