Manistique Lady Cardinals – District 10 Champs go to Grand Rapids to compete for state title – Friday Recap

Manistique Lady Cardinals drop two on day one of the state tournament at Pinery Park in Grand Rapids:

The Manistique Lady Cardinals the Little League Senior Girls (age 15-16) on Friday met two strong opponents.  First was West Branch were they started with one of the fastest pitchers in the tournament eventually losing 11-1. Manistique started off with a good past and held the score to 2-1 in the fourth inning trailing to West Branch before things got out of hand.

The second game was against Cheboygan and Manistique showed for the first time they could put a stick on the ball but eventually lost 12-3.  Cassie Gogolin was on the mound for the Cardinals in both games.

Manager McNeil stated that “we didn’t have many positives come out of the first game; we only had 2 base hits.”  It got better after putting the first game in the books, the second game Manager McNeil felt the girls had more enthusiasm. And it showed in the playing, Neddow led Manistique with two doubles and an RBI
